About the Media
The media I use is traditional egg tempera (egg yolk and water) and handmade pigments I refine myself, using grinding, filing, and levigation techniques. My pigments are made from rocks, minerals, and colored earths I collect or get at rock/ mineral shows or shops. I paint on panel, usually birch or another form of ply wood, covered with a thin natural fiber cloth, and whited with traditional gesso (plaster of paris and an archival glue). I also use mica, shells, and other durable natural materials.

My sculptures and many of my panels are made from found or recovered wood from felled trees, and ply and other processed woods discarded at cabinet shops or left over from house construction. I like to let my environment provide for me when I can.
